Churn prediction for the utility industry

Project Description

BEN Energy is the leading provider for customer intelligence software. We support utilities to generate proprietary knowledge on individual customer level to allow for targeted communication. BEN Energy was found in 2011 in Zurich, Switzerland and works with 25 utilities in Germany and Switzerland.

The challenge:

Increasing churn rates reduce sales and force utilities to spend a lot of money on the acquisition of new customers. Budgets for customer retention programs are limited. The challenge is to identify customers who are at risk to focus financial (resources).

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a data scientist who has performed churn analyses for various industries, ideally also for the utility industry. The data scientist should be familiar with the integration of external statistical and geographical data.

The data:

We provide a csv with addresses (street, zip-code, and place), gas consumption, products, contract terms and more. Data can be downloaded from our server (password-secured).

The outcome:

The outcome is a csv with churn probabilities for each customer. Besides, we would like to have a documentation of the algorithm in R and a documentation of your approach und the validity measures in PPT/Word. The documents can be uploaded via our server.
